My mother suffers from dementia and requires extra care. My sisters and I try as much as we can to help my father in caring for her. I'm at their house every day after work and on my days off as well...I'm actually taking an extra day a week off so my dad won't have to be with her by himself anymore than he has to be...my younger sister is doing the same. Needless to say I haven't got much free time as a result and my opportunities of taking photos are limited to my lunch hour at work and any spare moments I might find when I'm at my folks. It's a pretty narrow field of subject matter. Consequently anything I post in the near future will be kind of repetative...so you're going to see a lot of daisies and queen ann's lace shots and the odd dumpster photo now and again. I hope it doesn't become too boring.

Very sorry to hear that.

On the other hand, considering your use of composition, the shots you warn against will be all but boring :)

Sorry that you are having to go through this - my thoughts and heart go out to you - I've lost both my parents and I would give anything to have spent more time with them at the end of their lives.

I'm sorry to hear both your parents are gone. I realize no matter how tough the situation can sometimes be I'm very lucky to have both my parents still with us. As long as my mother knows who I am I want to spend as much time with her as I can because I don't know how long it will be this way.

Hi Rick,
I know what your going through, I just lost my father last week to the same. I wish I had had more time to spend with him before he receded totally into his private world. i was grateful however that I was there to help him with his passing and I'm sure he knew i was with him. As hard as it is to deal with this, be confident that your mother knows how much you love her. Hang in there and I'm thinking of you.

Thank you so much. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father.:iconsadhugplz: I am glad that you were able to be with him...that is a precious gift for both of you. It is a terrible disease to deal with...but as hard as it is to witness the decline in someone you love...someone who is so important in your life...I can't imagine doing things any differently.

She does know things aren't quite right with her...she gets a little frustrated at times when she can't remember things or can't quite find the word she's looking for. We try to smooth things over as much as possible. But normally she's in good spirits and jokes around and laughs. So it's not all bad!

I'm really sorry to here about your mom. I hope things work out for you soon, it must be very hard on all of you. At least a few years down the road you will know you did every thing you could do to help. And you can look back and remember all the time you spent with the both of them.
